Land Rover Defender DPF Systems (Diesel Particulate Filter)

Land Rover Defender introduced ‘Diesel Particulate Systems’ (DPF’s) to their range a number of years ago.

Definition;

A diesel particulate filter (DPF) is a filter that captures and stores exhaust soot (some refer to them as soot traps) in order to reduce emissions from diesel cars. But because they only have a finite capacity, this trapped soot periodically has to be emptied or ‘burned off’ to regenerate the DPF

The DPF system can cause problems if the generation process isn’t able to take place. Often we can fix this issue with a simple regeneration process. Sometimes there matter is more severe and we need to run a specialist cleaning substance through the engine or the DPF canister in order to clean it and allow the vehicle to self-generate.

If this issue is left unchecked it can lead to other component failures such as turbochargers so this is an issue that needs to be addressed quickly.

Sometimes the issue is too far gone and the only options are replacement or delete.

We offer genuine Land Rover Defender DPF systems as well as high quality aftermarket options.

Some people prefer to delete the DPF which gives the exhaust a louder more sporty note as well as increased engine power (when combined with one of our custom, in house remaps). Please be aware much like fitting a decat system to a petrol engine this option is not road legal.
